Families are what it’s all about!
We spent the week in Fresno during July 14th – 29th. The first part of the week I spent with my grandma, who is 93, and took a 5 generation picture with her, my aunt, me, my daughter and our new grandbaby. It was a great day to see my grandma play and talk to little Ryan. She loved holding his little feet!
We did a lot of shopping, I didn’t get to step foot into a quilt or fabric store, though! We went to some of our favorite places to eat, DiCicco’s Italian restaurant, and Me & Ed’s Pizza! We grew up on these two restaurants! If you have a craving for a great pepperoni pizza, you need to go to Fresno, CA….I think they are only in California and Canada! And they now have a great sports bar inside a few of them. Yum!
July came and went!
WOW, July came and went so fast! We’ve been in the middle of a whole house remodel—-we finally got a kitchen island that we wanted. Prior to installing it, we needed to get the electricity in the floor fixed, so that it would be “right” to attach to the island, safely! I’m so glad my hubby knows how to do these things! (NOW, with a my “watchful eye” over him) The other day, he was trimming the plastic away from the electric wire, while I was in the family room, I heard a loud POP and a saw a bright light out of the corner of my eye, my hubby happened to touch the other two wire pieces and ended up causing a spark. Luckily he didn’t get hurt. I asked if he turned off the power and he said, no. So, he checked the wire with his little tool and the light didn’t come on, and I said, it’s OFF, now! We went outside and the power had kicked off. so, now it is SAFE to continue with the wiring! Whew!
***notice the new floor tile? we love that it always looks clean! Above is the new electric box after my hubby attached the new line. Notice the wire tool in the photo, that was the culprit when he cut the plastic casing and touched the other two wires! He later found his new wire tool in the garage and it was so much better!!! and SAFER!
**if you look closely, you can see my space black zodiac counter tops! This is our new backsplash in the kitchen, notice no oven/stove or microwave! We were without for about 3 months! My hubby and I put the tile up ourselves. I measured, mudded and applied, while my hubby cut the Italian marble. We just love how it turned out!
During the month of July, we also attended a family reunion on my husbands side. There were about 70 of us in Fresno, CA having a grand time at Shaver Lake, and other events. During one of the afternoons, I spent time in Clovis with my daughter and grandson. We found some great things, I bought two aprons. One of the aprons was an antique, half-waist red and grey apron. It had been used, but never washed. A great find! see below:
The other apron, my daughter and I fell in love with. It was made from some decorator fabric and created in such a cute and fresh way. We loved the ruffle on the bottom with the pocket and “button” on the pocket. Who can resist the sweetheart neckline with the ric-rac details! So Cute. It was created by a company called, “Woof & Poof” They create fun holiday items, as well as the apron I’m showing below:
