Make a Quilt Block for the Bushfire Victims in Australia!
Hi my quilty friends!
I am organizing a project to send quilt blocks to the bushfire victims in Australia. I have an aussy (Wendy Cox), in my yahoo quilting group, who is sewing quilts together for those who have needs, because of the bushfires. So–my yahoo group is sending her blocks to help her out! If you would like to be involved, please respond to this message. We’ll be making the block that you see, below, called Crosses & Losses…it is VERY easy!
November 15, 2008 Block “Crosses and Losses” Pattern.
The blocks will be sewn in the colors of the Australian flag, red, white and blue. What is so wonderful about this block is that when sewn together, it creates a second “hidden” block! no sashing is required. It goes together fast~~~you ought to make two, since it is SO easy!
I have the pattern available on the right (November 15th block). So, if you want to be involved, please respond and I’ll send you the address to mail your blocks! You’ll get to see the progress on Wendy Cox’s Blog, she’ll be posting the blocks as well as the finished quilt! We just started this this week, so it may be a little while before she has them uploaded in the blog!
If you would like to participate, you can send your block to me and I’ll ship with mine. Please, please make a comment to this blog to let me know you are interested. You could win a prize! —let’s see, what should the prize be…hummmm….
Thank you for helping the victims!

I just read about your blog in “My Craftivity” email. I am not a quilter in practice, only in heart, at this time. I have wanted to begin a quilting project and thought since the Australia Bushfire Project was a simple block that it would be a good place to begin. Our daughter left for Australia for a year of study abroad so we have been more aware of life there than in the past and I would like to be a part of the project to help.

Hi Mary, thank you for wanting to help the victims in Australia! Your daughter sounds like she’ll be learning a lot while she is there on study abroad, especially if she is helping the victims, herself!
Please email me for the address to send the blocks! Denise@deniseclason.com
Thanks again! Your efforts will reallly help the lives in Australia!

Hi, I mailed my blocks to Wendy and was wondering how the blocks are coming? Did you have a good response?

Hi Tina,
I’ve received 8 blocks so far, and expect more from a guild later this month. I made 4 myself and they went together in about 1-1/2 hours. While I watched a movie on TV…so easy! Thanks for your donation!
